Summer Days
Well, here's the latest. Ashlyn tried out for and just found out that she made both the competition team and MPAC for dancing. She's thrilled, and we are thrilled for her!
We stay pretty busy, and we have been on the road a lot over the last few months. We went to New Mexico and took the kids skiing in March. We also spend a lot of time in Austin, and we make trips to College Station sometimes to visit Mom, Carrie (she and mom were both living there for a while), Robert and Annie, and our friends, Kristy, Anthony, and Tanner. We just returned from our trip to Missouri. The guys got plenty of fly fishing in, the kids actually caught a few of their own too. We went hiking, swimming, went to the waterslides, and some of us took a trip over to St. Louis while we were there.
We have a lot still planned for this summer. Ashlyn is going to SuperKids at Lamar, vacation bible school, and dance camp. Jacob is doing great and keeping me busy! I can't wait until he can get involved in sports and stuff. Poor thing just gets dragged from one thing to another with all of Ashlyn's activities keeping us quite busy. I'm shooting for a Schlitterbahn trip with the kids later in July, and we'll make at least one more trip to Austin this summer. L.A. is calling us all, but we may not get to fit that trip in until next summer.
When we aren't traveling or busy with Ashlyn's activities, we spend a lot of time with family and friends. Mom just finished her Ph.D. at A&M! Robert and Annie haved moved into a new house in College Station. They are both getting closer to being finished with their graduate and doctoral degrees. Carrie has two more years of seminary in L.A., and who knows where she may go from there. I will be sending out my applications to law school in August, and I should find out where we may be headed for my schooling in the Spring 2008! Todd and I can't wait! We are so ready to move off again.
So that's my very quick update on the comings and goings around here. If we arent' running the roads you can usually find us at the pool with the kids. This is us yesterday, in between the threatening rain clouds, trying to enjoy the pool!
Rain, Rain, Go Away!
I needed to get the kids out of the house this week. It has rained everyday. We were all getting a little cabin fever, so we headed out to Nasa today. They had a cool kids exhibit called Animal Grossology and some really neat stuff for the kids to do. Mom went along with us, and we had a great time. I thought I would post the pictures from our little excursion for all to see. If the weather holds out we may try the Houston Zoo tomorrow! Gotta run!
